Our mission

PupWiki helps US dog owners make better decisions. Every page must serve a real owner task — it must help someone decide, plan, compare, or act — not simply repeat information available everywhere else.

Content standards

What we do

• Cite authoritative sources for all health, nutrition, and care claims.
• Display source authority tiers and limitations clearly.
• Show the date content was last reviewed.
• Use structured decision formats: best-for, not-ideal-if, cost ranges, confidence levels.
• State assumptions behind every estimate or score.
• Apply medical disclaimers wherever health information appears.

What we do not do

• Provide veterinary diagnosis, treatment advice, or prescribing information.
• Make unsupported “best” or “top” product claims without transparent methodology.
• Publish thin content that adds no decision value.
• Generate content without editorial review for health or safety topics.
• Place affiliate links in positions that compromise editorial integrity.

Source governance

Sources are classified into authority tiers:

• Tier 1 — Government agencies (CDC), veterinary bodies (WSAVA), peer-reviewed veterinary references (Merck Veterinary Manual).
• Tier 2 — Breed registries (AKC), major breed clubs, established veterinary practice groups.
• Tier 3 — Industry publications, owner surveys, practitioner consensus.

We display source limitations and do not use sources outside their scope (e.g., breed registry information is not medical guidance).

Corrections

If you find a factual error, contact us. We review corrections within 14 days and update or annotate content as appropriate.

Editorial independence

Affiliate relationships do not influence our content decisions, breed assessments, tool outputs, or source selection. Our affiliate disclosure policy explains this in full.

Review cadence

Breed profiles and tool methodology pages are reviewed at least annually. Health-related content is reviewed more frequently when new authoritative guidance is published.
